2012 CTEC Video Festival

Below is the 2012 Video Festival Packet with information regarding this year's festival. There are some changes this year, so please read thru the packet carefully. Also at the bottom are PDFs of some documents that you may need to access quickly. These documents can be found in the festival packet as well (excel spreadsheet, entry form, submission summary form, school codes, division listings, FAQ).

As many of you know, we held our video festival at Lyons Township High School last year and at Glenbrook South High School the previous year. This year, GBS and LT, along with GBN have conflicts on the date of the festival. This caused us to go with an alternative plan (no lunch being served) that was explained in a previous email. We asked for volunteers to host the festival and only one school volunteered, so the 19th Annual High School Video Festival will be held at Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville on Friday, April 27, 2012 from 9a-1:30p. The details regarding the actual festival day still need to be ironed out, but we are looking at the format being very similar to last year’s festival (minus lunch). Also know that each school may be required to help supervise a certain area for a certain amount of time during the festival. The assignments will be determined at a later date, but this may be necessary to make sure that our students stay in the areas they are supposed to be in. If you have a student who will not respect the authority of a staff member from another school, then I would think twice about bringing that student to the festival. Attending the festival should be a privilege.

One-Minute Videos: Like we did last year, we would like to ask each school to produce a 1-minute video that highlights your program. Even if you are not entering any videos into the festival, we would still love to have a video highlighting your program! We will show these videos at some point during the festival day. Please do not go over 1-minute for your highlight video. This video will need to be turned in to Lisa on a separate DVD at the March 13th meeting. Videos that were produced last year can be found on the CTEC website below this post.

As of right now, each school is limited to bringing 25 students and 2 adults to the festival. The possible availability of extra "tickets" will be discussed in a future email. There is a spot on the Submission Summary report where schools can request extra tickets, but please do NOT pay for those extra tickets when turning in that form in March, as those extras are not guaranteed. We need to see how many schools request extra tickets and then see if there is space available to accommodate those extra requests. An email will be sent out after the March meeting to schools requesting extra tickets letting them know if that request has been approved or not. At that time, we will be asking for payment for those tickets.

I can not stress enough how important it is for you to read thru the packet completely. The answers to many questions I receive are found in the packet. It is also very important that you follow the entry rules we have established. Any deviations from those rules may result in the disqualification of that entry.

You may view last year's video festival by going to the post directly below this one. Thank you to Lyons Township HS for taping making this video available. Video of last year's winning entries are also available to view on the CTEC website on the Vid Fest page.

If you have any questions that are not answered in the festival packet, please email me at lisa_traut@ipsd.org.
